Little Six Casino is owned and operated by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community in Prior Lake, Minnesota, southwest of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area. The casino features slots and live dealer blackjack tables. With 4,100 employees, the SMSC, Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, and Little Six Casino combined are the largest employer in Scott County.[1]
Little Six is named after Little Six, a leader during the Dakota War of 1862. Its sister casino is Mystic Lake Casino Hotel.

Little Six Casino is owned and operated by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), a federally recognized, sovereign Indian tribe.
The SMSC opened Little Six Bingo in 1982, which became Little Six Casino in 1990 following the passage of the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988 and the signing of a gaming compact between the SMSC and State of Minnesota. Little Six Casino opened in its new facility in 2007.
- A generation ago, according to a report by the New York Times, members of the Shakopee Mdewakanton of Minnesota were living 'in a motley collection of beat-up trailer homes, melting snow for bath water when wells froze over because they lacked indoor plumbing.' Now, thanks to the ingenuity of the tribesmen, the close proximity to Minneapolis.
- Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community agreed earlier this month to loan the $29 million to the Fort Peck Tribes to help fund the Buffalo Rivers Casino and Lodge, shown in an illustration above.
- The Change for the Better program supports the current charitable efforts of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community and provides guests with the option to make a donation to local charities that greatly impact our communities.
- A Friendly Gaming Experience Little Six Casino is the smaller, more intimate gaming enterprise owned by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. With beginnings as a bingo hall in 1982, this casino near first expanded into Little Six Bingo and Casino in 1987, and reopened at its current location in December 2007.

The SMSC Gaming Enterprise, which includes Little Six Casino and Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, received a “Best Places to Work” award from the Minneapolis-Saint PaulBusiness Journal in 2012[2] and 2013[3] and a “Top 100 Workplaces” award from the Minneapolis Star Tribune in 2013.[4]
